Opcenter or Preactor? What's the difference?
Some people who are historically familiar with Preactor APS now see the name Opcenter and ask us if it's the same software? The answer is yes, with a few additions!
OPCENTER OR PREACTOR?
Preactor is the world leader in APS solutions solutions for Production Planning and Scheduling It has been present in Brazil since the 90s. And since 2013 it has been part of Siemens Digital Industries' Digitalization portfolio. It recently underwent a rebranding, changing its name to Opcenter APS (which includes Planning and Scheduling solutions). The name is Opcenter because it operates within the scope of MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management). Thus, it is one of the solutions aimed at the Operations area, as well as products aimed at managing Quality, Execution, R&D, among others. All these solutions are also part of the Opcenter portfolio, along with APS. Below you can see a brief overview of it.[caption id="attachment_2813" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]
Siemens Opcenter MOM portfolio[/caption]In a recent study by internationally recognized industrial consultancy ARC Advisory Group, it found: "ARC believes Siemens is well positioned to help manufacturers accelerate industrial digital transformation globally. MOM will continue to be a leading mission-critical technology for digital transformation and for Siemens, as the company integrates its close-loop continuous improvement capabilities into other areas. MOM applications won't disappear any time soon; successful MOM implementations will have to be approached within the context of overall digital transformation initiatives. Siemens seems to understand this well."What's more, since it changed its name, new versions have been released, each time with more new features. NEO works specifically with Scheduling and Planning solutions for production and distribution through its DRP Distribution Planning , MPS Production Planning and APS Production Scheduling solutions.
